Record learning observations and reports

Use the school’s assessment structure to document observed learning.

Before you begin

Choose the correct child, class and assessment period.

Step by step

  1. Open Assessment and select the relevant child or class.
  2. Choose the checklist or assessment area used by the school.
  3. Record the observed progress and supporting notes.
  4. Review the wording and dates before saving.
  5. Open the child’s record to check the saved observation or report.
  6. Use the available publication action only after reviewing the version intended for families.

Check the result

The learning record reflects the observation you intended to save.

A useful check

Describe evidence and context. Do not turn a checklist into an unsupported label or diagnosis.

If the result is different, check the account and school first, then contact the team with the task and error wording.
