Choose the right finance correction
Preserve the transaction history when an amount needs correction.
Before you begin
Use an authorised finance account and have the reason and supporting record ready.
Step by step
- Open the relevant account history and identify the original entry and the change required.
- For a charge adjustment, use the available credit action and record the reason and effective date.
- For money already returned, use the refund-recording action and record the real bank or provider reference.
- For an incorrect posting, review the authorised reversal or correction control and its link to the original entry.
- After reconciliation, use Close the month for the intended period.
- If a closed period needs attention, use the authorised reopening or open-period correction process shown.
Check the result
The account keeps an understandable history of the correction and period status.
A useful check
Do not erase a transaction to hide a mistake. Review any real bank or provider movement separately from the accounting entry.
If the result is different, check the account and school first, then contact the team with the task and error wording.
